Desde la mitad del siglo XX el imperio dominante existente lo conocemos muy bien (viendo los mapas) y se sabe qué son los imperios, para qué sirven los imperios y como caen los imperios también. Casi nunca un imperio es destruido por otro, éstos caen por contradicciones, internas, los grandes imperios caen por contradicciones propias que los demás aprovechan para romperles el cogote. En occidente se define una guerra por legitimidad, esta guerra no la tiene y ésto hace una contradicción interna. El mayor porcentaje de los norteamericanos no quieren la guerra, y ésta viola las leyes internacionales.

Signing an Iran nuclear agreement in 2015 was a way of maintaining predictabilty. Ripping up the agreement in 2018 re introduced unpredictability and increased risk levels significantly. We are now living the consequences of that unpredictability, but it has been there since 2018.

And let us not forget that we are where we are because Trump decided to abandon the Iran Nuclear Agreement in 2018, which, from available evidence, Iran was abbiding to.

Isn't this a case of the "tail wagging the dog? Israel may have had very good motives to strike Iran, taking advantage of it's current weakness, but the US didn't have the same set of cirmcunstances and could have decided not to join Israel.
